Lake Ray Hubbard Emergency Pet Care Center was established in 1997 by a group of Veterinarians to provide high quality emergency and critical care to their clients as well as the general public on nights, weekends, and holidays. As of September 1st, 2004, we have moved into our new hospital located one mile South of I-30 on Beltline Road in Mesquite.

State-of-the-Art Facility
Our newly constructed facility is a state-of-the-art veterinary referral hospital that houses the emergency clinic,
Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center, and the Animal Diagnostic Clinic. The surgeons and
internal medicine groups will be seeing patients during regular business hours and the emergency clinic will remain open nights, weekends and holidays. In order to make an appointment with the surgical or medicine specialists, you regular veterinarian must first make a "referral" by contacting the specialists. Referrals are not necessary to be seen through the emergency service. The association of these three practices in one hospital allows us to provide an exceptional service to the surrounding veterinary hospitals, clients and their pets.

When You Arrive
Upon arrival at Lake Ray Hubbard Emergency Pet Care Center, a technician will
immediately triage your pet to determine the severity of the sickness or illness. Since there are no appointments,
the most critical animals will be seen by the attending veterinarian first. A long wait should be expected for stable pets when the E.R. is busy. Often your pet will be brought back to the treatment area for examination and observation while other animals are being treated. If your pet is critical, he or she will become the first priority and other treatments and surgical procedures will be delayed. We understand that you are very concerned with your pet and we will inform you of the assessment of your family member as soon as possible.

Following a complete evaluation and examination, the veterinarian will discuss the recommended treatments and procedures with the owner. Once the authorization for treatment is obtained, the staff will proceed quickly and efficiently to provide the best possible care for your pet. You will be notified of all changes in your pet's condition as soon as they occur. Often your pet may need to be hospitalized if he/she is very ill, but you can be assured that our technicians and veterinarians will provide around-the-clock care for your loved one.

All animals needing further care must be discharged on the following regular business day and transported back to your regular veterinarian. A local ambulance service is available for those having difficulty with the transport.

Upon Discharge
Following discharge from the emergency clinic, all diagnostic information and medical records are immediately faxed to your regular veterinarian. X-rays will be released with the pet and should be taken to the regular veterinarian for further evaluation. Most medication prescriptions will be picked up at your veterinarian's office.
